Q: When did you first start playing music?
A: When I was four my parents bought me a toy drum set. My Mom played piano and sang leisurely. Both my sisters play piano and one of them plays guitar and sings.
Q: Tell me about the first bands you were in.
A: I was in a series of cover bands for a while and then my first original band was called "Puppet Show" with a singer named Jennifer Tersin who still plays in Santa Barbara. And then she and I formed "Grizelda" which we went on to form into "Scarecrow" with Misha. Then when Misha, Sean and Tim needed a drummer that's how Summercamp was formed.
Q: What were some of your early musical influences?
A: I guess Cheap Trick, 70's rock, Earth Wind & Fire.
Q: What was the first album that you bought?
A: It was "Dressed to Kill" by Kiss.
Q: What do you listen to now?
A: Well I deejay on the side and I'm into a wide range of music, you know, from Hip-Hop to the Cure to Jamiroquai to the Cardigans to Tool...I listen to tons and tons of shit.
Q: What's in your tape deck right now?
A: The Chemical Brothers.
Q: How did you end up in Santa Barbara?
A: Well I was born in Central California in the San Joaquin Valley in a small town called Tulare and I never felt like I fit in. I needed to get out. Pretty much all of my high school years I was planning my escape. So when I was in high school I'd go to SB where my sisters were already living. They'd pick me up and take me to alot of concerts.
Q: What was your first concert?
A: Elvis Costello.
Q: When is your birthday?
A: August 21st.
Q: How do you like touring?
A: So far playing is the best part of the road-driving and sitting are the worst. Sleeping doesn't exist. There's 5-6 hours in a bed at night, you know, and then onto the next set up. I miss sleep.
